The CalArts Library Exhibitions and Displays Program seeks to provide inspiration, support learning, and spark curiosity with the resources and ideas we share. Our Library Exhibitions and Displays Committee (consisting of members of the CalArts Library team) manages the Exhibitions and Displays Program and calendar. The Committee initiates most exhibitions (which generally are up for four to six months) and displays (which rotate on a monthly basis). Occasionally, we support exhibition proposals from CalArts students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Exhibitions

CalArts Library Exhibitions draw from the Library’s extensive collections, including special collections, artists’ books collections, image and film collections, and the Institute Archives.

The schedule for exhibitions is decided up to one year in advance. Our exhibitions, specifically, are more expansive and comprehensive explorations of ideas; they are interdisciplinary in nature and engage with the Library’s unique materials and spaces in innovative ways.
